Abstract

Weltpoliotag 2025: Ziel der weltweiten Ausrottung von Polio in Gefahr Europa gilt seit 2002 als poliofrei – doch im vergangenen Jahr wurden in fünf europäischen Ländern vom Schluckimpfstoff abgeleitete Polioviren im Abwasser nachgewiesen. Klinische Fälle gab es bislang nicht. Gleichzeitig könnte das Ziel der weltweiten Polioeradikation aufgrund von Mittelkürzungen und der Schwächung internationaler Institutionen gefährdet sein. Der Weltpoliotag 2025 möchte daran erinnern, dass gemeinsame Anstrengungen aller Länder zur Bekämpfung der Poliomyelitis essenziell bleiben.
