Resolution and scientific rationale regarding the specific prevention of RSV infections using long-acting monoclonal antibodies (currently: clesrovimab or nirsevimab) in newborns and infants during their first RSV season The Standing Committee on Vaccination (STIKO) has reviewed the available data on the monoclonal antibody (mAb) clesrovimab and decided to recommend clesrovimab, in addition to nirsevimab, for the specific prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections in all newborns and infants, regardless of any risk factors for severe RSV disease, during their first RSV season. Based on the evidence from the systematic review, clesrovimab is well tolerated, safe and effective. The aim of the recommendation for RSV prophylaxis with long-acting mAb is to reduce the incidence of severe RSV disease in newborns and infants. In particular, the aim is to prevent RSV-related hospitalisation, intensive care treatment and death, as well as capacity constraints in inpatient and outpatient care caused by RSV.eng
