Beschluss und wissenschaftliche Begründung zur Erweiterung der STIKO-Empfehlung zur Indikationsimpfung und postexpositionellen Chemoprophylaxe gegen Haemophilus influenzae Typ b

Abstract

Seit 1990 empfiehlt die STIKO eine Schutzimpfung gegen Haemophilus influenzae Typ b (Hib) mit einem Konjugatimpfstoff für Säuglinge und Kleinkinder im Alter von < 5 Jahren. Im Alter von ≥ 5 Jahren ist eine Hib-Impfung nur in Ausnahmefällen indiziert. Anlässlich eines akuten Ausbruchgeschehens von Hib-Erkrankungen unter Erwachsenen in Norddeutschland hat die STIKO ihre Empfehlungen zur Indikationsimpfung und postexpositionellen Chemoprophylaxe reevaluiert und angepasst.

Decision and scientific justification for expanding the STIKO recommendation on indicated vaccination and post-exposure chemoprophylaxis against Haemophilus influenzae type b

Since 1990, the STIKO has recommended vaccination against Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) with a conjugate vaccine for infants and young children under the age of 5 years. For children aged 5 years and over, Hib vaccination is only indicated in exceptional cases. Due to an acute Hib outbreak among adults in northern Germany, the STIKO has re-evaluated and adjusted its recommendations on indicated vaccination and post-exposure chemoprophylaxis.
